Software
When you receive your new refurbished computer, it comes with the necessary drivers and programs for the operation of the machine. Besides that it is completely empty of other software. Therefore, even before buying the machine, it may be an idea to take a look at what software you need for your work with your new refurbished computer.
Hos Refurb, we offer a variety of software products that can help protect your computer as well as be tools for e.g. word processing or secure backup and storage of your data.
Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office is one of the most used application sets for everything from word processing to calculations and showings. For business, the Office suite has for many years been a preferred product due to the applications' wide reach and well executed design.
The Office suite can today be divided into two separate package types. Either the fixed package where you buy access to a variety of programs indefinitely, but tied to one computer. Or the Office 365 solution where you purchase an annual or monthly licensing of the programs for one or more computers and where you are always able to change which machine(s) your Office license is associated with.
With the fixed package, there are different packages where the difference between each is which programs are included. You can read more about this in the individual packages we carry in our range. With Office 365, you always have access to the entire Office product catalog, and most subscriptions also include some form of cloud storage.
Cloud storage
Cloud storage is, as mentioned earlier, an offer associated with purchasing an Office 365 subscription. However, it is far from the only option you have if you are interested in being able to back up your data "up in the cloud". Applications like Dropbox have been the choice for many years, as they were among the first to be widely recognized for offering a safe and stable cloud storage product.
Antivirus
Antivirus is for many a thing that is difficult to work with. You know it's necessary, but do you really have to throw a lot of money at it every single year? And what about the free options available – are they good enough?
For the vast majority, the answer will be that the free options are more than plenti – and Windows Defender in particular, Microsoft's own antivirus, which is a built-in part of Windows 10, is becoming more and more recognized as a solid and good choice. If you are a regular consumer of the Internet, you will be able to start using your machine without any problems with the built-in Windows Defender.
But when does it make sense to buy an antivirus program? It does so when you have data you'd like extra protection for, or when you might not have the greatest experience in navigating online. Many pages lure with pop-ups, banners and the like, with a little too good bargains, and a click on the wrong link can give you viruses that even the most powerful antivirus programs can't handle. Many antivirus manufacturers have started offering enhanced software that blocks the dangerous sites, or gives you an additional warning before entering unapproved web pages.
